Physical Therapist
David Van Brunt, PT, CHT
Advanced founder and Executive Director, David Van Brunt is licensed as a Physical Therapist by the NJ
State Board of Physical Therapy, and is certified as a hand therapist by the American Society of Hand Therapists . He is a founder of the State's Physical Therapy Provider Network (PTPN-NJ).
David is former Director / Chief Physical Therapist for Memorial General Hospital in Union, NJ. He is
affiliated with both the state and national organizations of the American Physical Therapy Associations ,
and served as president of the New Jersey chapter . He has been a physical therapy program guest
lecturer at the New Jersey College of Medicine & Dentistry, and a member of the advisory boards for
Kean College and Union County Technical Institute. He holds a degree in physical therapy from Ithaca
College, served a clinical internship at Albert Einstein School of Medicine, and attended NYU Graduate
School.

Physical Therapist
Timothy O'Kay, PT, OCS
Clinical director, Timothy O'Kay, PT, OCS, graduated Magna Cum Laude from State University of New
York Health Science Center at Syracuse in 1986. He has completed extensive education and training in
the field of orthopedic physical therapy with special interest in Industrial Rehabilitation (Functional
Capacity Evaluation, Work Conditioning, Ergonomics, etc.)
Tim has held various roles for the American Physical Therapy Association of New Jersey. He was
recognized by his peers in April 2005 with the American Physical Therapy Association of New Jersey
Robert Ransky Legislative Achievement Award in recognition of his contribution to the physical therapy
profession through legislative efforts. He served as the APTA-NJ Reimbursement Chair from 2004 to 2006.
He also is on the executive Board of the Physical Therapy Provider Network of New Jersey and served as President from 2003-2006.
Timothy has worked with founder, David Van Brunt, PT, CHT since 1990. As clinical director, he heads
the Management team and is committed to maintaining Advanced Physical Therapy Associates' "5 Star" reputation. He is a member of the Private Practice Section of the American Physical Therapy Association.
In 2000, Timothy achieved national board certification as a clinical specialist in Orthopedic Physical
Therapy by the American Board of Physical Therapy specialties. He is one of only 85 physical therapists
in the State of New Jersey certified in orthopedics. To obtain board certification, candidates must submit
evidence of required clinical practice and successfully complete a rigorous written examination, which demonstrates specialized knowledge and advanced clinical proficiency in a specialty area.

Physical Therapist
Linda Bernot, PT
Linda Bernot, PT, has been recognized throughout the state and nation as a leader in physical and
aquatic rehabilitation. A Cum Laude from New York University in 1981, Linda worked with founders, David
and Nancy Van Brunt, to establish an innovative Aquatic Physical Therapy and Wellness Program in 1992. The program was enhanced in 1997 with a move to the 210 North Avenue facility and dedication of the
on-site therapeutic pool.
Linda has been recognized by her peers for her contributions to the profession, receiving the New
Jersey American Physical Therapy Association's Outstanding Service Award in 1990. One of four physical therapists nationwide, Linda was instrumental in the development of an aquatic safety and risk
management program, which was endorsed by the Aquatic Section of the American Physical Therapy
Association. She continues to lecture nationwide on this topic. Linda has served in various state and
national offices of the American Physical Therapy Association including Vice President of the National
Aquatic Section.
In addition to aquatic rehabilitation, Linda has a strong interest in Women's Health issues and is an
active member of the Women's Health section. Linda completed her certification as a lymphedema
therapist through the Norton School in June 2006. She receives satisfaction in empowering women to
understand and take control of their special health concerns.

Practice Administrator
Betty Maloney, CMM, CPC
Betty Maloney, CMM, CPC, joined Advanced Physical Therapy Associates in 1991 taking the position of office manager for founders, David and Nancy Van Brunt. Betty has been instrumental in many projects through the years. She assisted David Van Brunt in the establishment of a statewide Physical Therapy Provider Network (PTPN) and was the first president of the PTPN Office Managers' Association. Other projects included implementation of ADVANCED Physical Therapy Association's first computerized billing system and providing key oversight of the new building construction. The new building was the start of an expanded vision of a practice that would provide 5 star quality and integrity in every aspect of service.
Betty was certified as a procedural coder (CPC) by the national American Academy of Procedural Coders
in 1994 after extensive coursework and examination. In 1997, she received her certification as a certified medical manager (CMM) through Professional Association of Healthcare Office Management.
She is one of only 50 CMMs in the state of New Jersey. To obtain certification, a specific level of
education and experience must be achieved before being able to sit for a rigorous written examination.
Certification attests to professional abilities and dedication.
Betty is a member of the National PAHCOM association and its local Plainfield Tri-County Area Chapter in which she has held many positions including president. In 2001, she was nominated for the National PAHCOM Office Manager of the Year. She is also a member of National American Academy of Procedural Coders. In 2006, Betty received the "Friend of Physical Therapy Award" from the American Physical Therapy Association of New Jersey in appreciation of her recognition of the profession of physical therapy and interest in quality healthcare for all citizens of New Jersey.
Betty is one of four members of the ADVANCED Physical Therapy Associates' Management Team that includes Executive Director, David Van Brunt, Clinical Director, Timothy O'Kay, and Linda Bernot, Clinical Partner.

Physical Therapist
Eleanor Campbell, PT
Eleanor Campbell, P.T. joined the APTA staff in 1994. She graduated from Russell Sage-Albany Medical College School of Physical Therapy in 1977 and then gained diverse physical therapy experience by working in a variety of settings, including acute care, out patient, home care and infant medical day care. Eleanor offered APTA her expertise in the treatment of adults with neurological disorders and for the development of a pediatric program. As the pediatric area expanded, Eleanor began to devote herself exclusively to treatment of infants and children, providing care both in the office and in the Cranford School District. Eleanor is an active member of the NJAPTA and the pediatric special interest group. Every year she works along with other pediatric therapists as a Special Olympics volunteer, providing flexibility, fitness and balance screening in the Fun Fitness program. She frequently attends continuing education to further her pediatric expertise and is active in mentoring other pediatric therapists.
As an experienced therapist and as a mother, who understands the challenges faced by families, Eleanor provides compassionate physical therapy to children, as well as the support and guidance needed by their families.

Marianne Luckenbach, PT, CHT
In 1997, Advanced Physical Therapy Associates was expanding into its present modern, multispecialty facility. Founders David and Nancy Van Brunt needed to add another experienced therapist with strong orthopedic skills. Marianne Luckenbach was chosen.
Marianne obtained her certification in hand therapy (CHT) in May, 2010. This certification is given by the American Society of Hand Therapists.
Marianne Luckenbach, PT, graduated Magna Cum Laude from UMDNJ in 1988. She identified
orthopedic physical therapy as her area of special interest early in her career. She has received
specialized training through numerous orthopedic educational courses and programs. She is a member of the Orthopedic Section of the American Physical Therapy Association. Marianne's extensive orthopedic background and skill allows her to provide state of the art care.
Marianne is also a clinical instructor for student therapists. She mentors these students during clinical internships at Advanced Physical Therapy Associates. Her broad orthopedic experience, warmth and compassion, compliment and anchor our team of specialized physical and occupational therapists.

Physical Therapist
Andrea Byrne, PT, OCS
Andrea Byrne, PT, graduated from Quinnipiac College in 1995. Her career has provided valuable
experience with a variety of conditions and disabilities. These have included orthopedic injuries, spinal cord injuries, stroke, Parkinson's disease and vestibular disorders. Her areas of special interest are vestibular and orthopedic rehabilitation.
Andrea is well respected in the physical therapy community for advanced training, superior treatment techniques and professional mentoring. She has completed extensive course work in the field of orthopedic and vestibular physical therapy. Andrea achieved National Board Certification as a Clinical Specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy by the American Board of Physical Therapy sepcialties. She is one of only 85 physical therapists in the State of New Jersey certified in rothopedics.She has served as a clinical instructor for student therapists since 1997.
Andrea also provides educational in-services for colleagues and the public. She is an active member
of the American Physical Therapy Association and the Vestibular Disorders Association . Andrea joined ADVANCED Physical Therapy Associates in 2001. Her contribution was immediate. Her skill, knowledge and commitment to excellence has strengthened and deepened our team of professionals.

Karen Scacciaferro, PT
Karen realized her full potential by graduating from the Physical Therapy program at New York University in 1999. Her course work established a strong orthopedic foundation. Karen advanced her treatment strategies and manual techniques through additional orthopedic training. She is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association and remains committed to continued professional growth through ongoing educational endeavors.
Karen joined ADVANCED Physical Therapy Associates in 2001. Her experience and skill enable her to effectively manage patients with a wide variety of conditions and injuries. Although Karen's academic and professional achievements are noteworthy, her greatest single asset is her ongoing devotion to her patients and her career.

Denise Yanoski, DPT
Denise Yanoski, DPT graduated from the College of William and Mary with a BS degree in 2003. Her graduate studies at Rutgers University/UMDNJ resulted in a Master's degree in PT in 2005. Denise received her department's Clinical Excellence Award from Rutgers/UMDNJ for her research in the area of exercise and its implications for pulmonary hypertension. She received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) from UMDNJ in 2008.
Denise combines her knowledge of musculoskeltal pathology and rehabilitation with her keen interest in sports for effective treatment of athletes. Personally, Denise is an avid runner and marathon participant. She coaches high school level girls' lacrosse and has a strong background as a youth mentor and community leader.
Denise joined the staff of Advanced Physical Therapy Associates in 2005. We welcomed her expertise in sports specific training, her infectious enthusiasm and her dedication to achieving high outcomes with her patient population.

Occupational Therapist
Marilyn Federico, MA, OTR, CHT
Marilyn Federico, MA, OTR, CHT, is a graduate of New York University, receiving a Masters of Arts degree in Occupational Therapy in 1996. She completed a year-long fellowship at Hahnemann University under the instruction of internationally recognized experts in the field of hand therapy. This Certificate in Hand and Upper Extremity demonstrates her exposure to the most innovative surgical and therapeutic techniques in the treatment of upper extremity injuries.
Marilyn has extensive experience working with individuals with orthopedic injuries, central and peripheral neurological conditions as well as functional adaptation and/or remediation. Her compassionate nature, combined with her diverse experience in the area of rehabilitation, has enabled her patients to achieve optimal return to function.
Marilyn joined Advanced Physical Therapy Associates in 2002. Her knowledge, superior skills and sincere concern enhances our ability to provide specialized treatment for individuals with upper extremity disabilities.

Melissa Jeans, DPT
Melissa Jeans, DPT received a Bachelor of Science from Rutgers University with High Honors in 2005. Her major was Exercise Science with her interest in sports injuries and pedatrics. She is a member of the Garden State Soccer League and she participates in the annual NJ Multiple Sclerosis bike tour. She completed her doctoral studies in Physical therapy at UMDNJ. Her Doctor of Physical Therapy was conferred in 2008.
Melissa completed clinical internships to further specialize in both orthopedics and pediatrics. Her orthopedic training was at ADVANCED Physical Therapy Associates. We recognized her natural aptitude for musculoskeletal injuries, but more importantly, we saw her calming and encouraging effect on injured people. We knew then that she was "a keeper".
ADVANCED Physical Therapy Associates was please to have Melissa join our staff in 2008. We look forward to her ongoing contributions to our facility. Her warm smile lends to a comfortable welcome to all who enter our facility.

Stephanie Gambino, D.P.T.
Stephanie Gambino, D.P.T. graduated Cum Laude with a bachelor of Science in Biology from Ramapo College in 2006 and was awarded her Doctor of Physical Therapy from University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in 2008. She received the Academic Award from UMDNJ upon her graduation.
Prior to her Doctorate, she pursued a varied internship, which included orthopedics and pediatric care. Stephanie quickly developed an interest and talent for both these fields.
Stephanie joined the ADVANCED Physical Therapy Associates staff in 2008. She not only brought with her strong orthopedic skills, but also filled the important role of pediatric therapist both in the office and in our community schools. This made her the perfect fit for ADVANCED Physical Therapy Associates. Her dedication to bringing current treatment options to her patients results in successful attainment of patient treatment goals.
We welcome Stephanie to ADVANCED Physical Therapy Associates in 2008 and appreciate her caring and professional care for both our clinic and our community schools.

Sharon Daniel, PTA
Advanced Physical Therapy Associates was pleased to welcome Sharon Daniel, PTA to our staff in December 2005. Sharon is well known by our staff and patients from previous employment at our facility in her role as a rehabilitation technician from February 200 through January 2004.
Sharing our commitment to superior patient care, she pursued an Associates degree in Applied Science from Union County College with graduation in May 2005. Sharon compliments our professional staff with her enthusiasm and geniune concern for patient advocacy.
