Our experienced and specialty trained therapists are committed to providing the best physical therapy intervention for vestibular and balance disorders. Personalized treatment will be determined after a comprehensive evaluation.
Vestibular symptoms are usually described as dizziness or vertigo. They may also include sensitivity to visual motion or a history of falling. Balance difficulties result with an unsteady walking pattern, tendency to hold onto wall/furniture and/or a history of falls.
Advanced vestibular assessment techniques and state of the art balance assessment equipment are used to determine a treatment plan that will address both vestibular and balance problems.

Leadership
The Vestibular and Balance program is under the direction of Andrea Byrne, PT and Dina Leyden, PT. Both Andrea and Dina have extensive experience and training in the area of vestibular and balance disorders in a multi- disciplinary approach including physicians and audiologists. Andres is a member of The Vestibular Disorders Association.
The Program
Comprehensive Assessment
A comprehensive one-hour evaluation will be performed by one of our specialists. This may include: Musculoskeletal screening, positional/ movement testing, visual disturbance/eye-head coordination screening and balance assessment utilizing our state of the art Biodex computerized equipment.
Treatment
Treatment of vestibular disorders consists of specific exercise designed to maximize the ability of the central nervous system to compensate and adjust.
Treatment for balance dysfunctions emphasizes both the nervous system and the musculoskeletal system. Exercises can enhance how these systems work together and result in improved balance.
Goals
Prevention
Older Americans are at greater risk for falls. Falls are a significant reason for fractures, hospitalization and loss of independence.
Our Fall Prevention Program can identify if you or a loved one is “at risk” for a fall. Exercise instruction and educational training has been shown to reduce the occurrence of falls.
